Dell Brings Back the XPS 13 With a $599 Starting Price for Students

Dell has relaunched the XPS 13, one of its longest-running and best-known laptop lines, with a starting price of $599 for students and $699 for everyone else. The new model, internally numbered the DX13260, was unveiled at Computex in June 2026 and is now available to order directly from Dell.

The relaunch follows a bumpy stretch for the XPS name. Dell had briefly retired the XPS brand as part of a broader product rebranding effort, folding its premium laptops into other naming schemes, before reversing that decision and confirming a return of the XPS 13, XPS 14, and XPS 16 at CES 2026. Dell has since acknowledged the original rebrand was a misstep.

The base configuration ships with an Intel Core 5 320 processor, 8GB of RAM, a 512GB SSD, and a 2.5K touchscreen display. Models with more powerful Intel Core Ultra Series 3 processors, additional color options, and higher RAM configurations arrived later in the summer at higher price points. Even at the entry price, the new XPS 13 includes features not standard on every laptop in this price range: a backlit keyboard, support for multiple external displays, and configurations with up to 32GB of memory available as upgrades.

The pricing puts the new XPS 13 in direct competition with Apple's entry-level MacBook line on price, while adding a touchscreen and more port flexibility than Apple typically includes at a comparable price point. The laptop weighs about 2.2 pounds and measures roughly half an inch thick, keeping Dell's traditionally compact XPS chassis design.

The new XPS 13 is available now at Dell.com, with the student discount applied automatically for eligible buyers at checkout.
